ugh. how ironic.

remember the last time i posted something about the common cold [sickness] and etc.?
yeah, it WAS yesterday[in the wee hours of the morning, if i might add. haha].
and guess what happened?
----------- dum, dum, dummmmm!!!
i got sick that same day!!! :((
i caught the common cold [i think] accompanied by the ever lovable runny nose!

all throughout the morning that day, i was feeling great! i felt as healthy as ever, i was even being my lil' ol' cheerful self, annoying people here and there..hahaha
but then, at approximately 5:15pm on May 30,2009, i started sneezing!!!
emmegawd!!!
and from there, my nose got stuffy, i sneezed more, my throat swelled and felt like the Sahara desert with all it's rodents packed up from North Africa and moved and made home in my throat.

wanna take a look?
here's how my throat feels like right this very moment. AAAARGGGHH!!!!!!

gawd! i hate getting sick!!!!!!!!
it just makes me feel so darn useless, dirty, and itchy in more places than one.
and no matter how i do the "mind over matter" crap, i still feel like i got trampled on all over by a gigantic bulldozer.

uggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. :((

my nose is so full of snot, i have to unload it in the bathroom again.. ugh.
pardon me for being too blunt about my bodily fluids, i've no time for "polite" rants.

ughhhhhhhhhh. darn it! i've to go now.

my head can't stand the radiation and is throbbing.
my nose can't stop leaking.
and i feel sOOOOOOOO much like SHIT,
the kind that is just "plopped" on the side of the road.
you know, normal, dirty, useless shit.

ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!! can't stand this.
grrr.

during these times, ignorance is NOT bliss.

These are GENERAL infos only..not specifically about the AH1N1 virus.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is influenza (flu)?

Influenza (flu) is a viral infection. People often use the term "flu" to describe any kind of mild illness, such as a cold or a stomach virus, that has symptoms like the flu. But the real flu is different. Flu symptoms are usually worse than a cold and last longer. The flu usually does not cause vomiting or diarrhea.

Most flu outbreaks happen in late fall and winter.

What causes the flu?

The flu is caused by influenza viruses A and B. There are different strains, or types, of the flu virus every year.

What are the symptoms?

The flu causes a fever, body aches, a headache, a dry cough, and a sore or dry throat. You will probably feel tired and less hungry than usual. The symptoms usually are the worst for the first 3 or 4 days. But it can take 1 to 2 weeks to get completely better.

It usually takes 1 to 4 days to get symptoms of the flu after you have been around someone who has the virus.

Most people get better without problems. But sometimes the flu can lead to a bacterial infection, such as an ear infection, a sinus infection, or bronchitis. In rare cases, the flu may cause a more serious problem, such as pneumonia.

Certain people are at higher risk of problems from the flu. They include young children, pregnant women, older adults, and people with long-term illnesses or with impaired immune systems that make it hard to fight infection.

How is the flu diagnosed?

Your doctor will ask you about your symptoms and examine you. This usually gives the doctor enough information to find out if you have the flu, especially if many cases of a similar illness have occurred in the area and the local health department reports a flu outbreak.

In some cases, the doctor may do a blood test or take a sample of fluid from your nose or throat to find out what type of flu virus you have.

How is it treated?

Most people can treat flu symptoms at home. Home treatment includes resting, drinking plenty of fluids, and taking medicine to lower your fever.

If you think you have the flu, your doctor may be able to give you medicine that can make the symptoms milder. But you need to start taking it within 2 days of your first symptoms.

Can the flu be prevented?

You can help prevent the flu by getting the flu vaccine every year. The best time to get the vaccine is in October or November, just before the start of flu season. You can get the vaccine as a shot or in a spray that you breathe in through your nose.

Almost anyone over 6 months old can have the flu vaccine. The vaccine is especially important for people who are at higher risk of problems from the flu, including:

  • Children 6 months through 4 years of age.
  • Adults ages 50 and older.
  • Adults and children who have long-term health problems or an impaired immune system.
  • Women who will be pregnant during the flu season.

The flu vaccine is also recommended for health care workers and anyone who lives or works with a person who is at higher risk of problems from the flu. Your doctor can help you decide if the flu vaccine is a good choice for you.

The vaccine usually prevents most cases of the flu. But even if you do get the flu after you've had the vaccine, your symptoms will be milder and you'll have less chance of problems from the flu. You cannot get the flu from the flu vaccine.

oh crud.

May 27, '09

daaaaaang.

i SHOULD have been somewhere else right about now.

but instead, subjugation and unrequited loyalty and "utang-na-loob" imprisons me here,
inside my personal "purgatory" (if there exists such).

blech.

boredom and loneliness torture the hell out of me.
and the situation deems more than plain suffering from me.

ya know why? know why? lemme humor you.

this should have been a FUN-filled day, considering what today IS.

ugh!!!!!

never mind.

at least i have the internet.
thank goodness for the triple doubleyah..

at least i get to waste the whole day doing something other than moping, grumbling, and ranting to myself.

at least with the internet, i get to joyously mope, grumble, and rant to other people online.
and i get to annoy other people, too.. that's a great PLUS.
bahahahaha!! :))

i know, i know. i'm being mean.. hahaha
well, at least i get to SHARE this pathetic day with the cyberworld..
sharing is good, right?

hahaha.

good luck justifying that.

anyway.. i'm blabbing excessively AGAIN.
well, i guess THAT is my trademark. so, it's not something new to you guys now. :)

thanks for dropping by my uneventful page..

be back for more rants.. hahaha :))

Intellectual Orgasm

December 15, 2008.

From subjects of interest such as modern architecture to late Renaissance paintings and sculptures, from the topics of nudity to arrogance, and from choice of films like "a beautiful mind" over "tanging ina mo", our humanities professor is never at loss for words or opinions.

He always has this way of capturing my attention even when i am in my deepest concentration (most likely thinking about what awaits me at lunch). the way his words wrap around the subject of his liking seems to be that of a mother caressing her baby and, at the same time, like an obsessed admirer clutching his most prized memorabilia. he just has this command, this conviction, over whatever topic catches his fancy.

like early today. in our humanities class. He was calling names, each instructed to explain what "the difference between an artisan and a craftsman" is. i was scrambling to gather my thoughts, which all seemed unwilling to be gathered, as the idea of early dismissal was nearly screaming its way out of me. he called one student and his(student) answer seemed way off base so he(the prof) wasn't even nearly satisfied. even when he just wants us to know that, he goes and says, "Let's have intellectual orgasm here. the foreplay isn't enough."and the whole class burst into laughter, as were I.

that right there made me realize right then (even after the conclusion i had earlier that morning: that i HATE my humanities class and i was leaning to the idea of dropping the subject altogether and just take it up again this summer.) that i sort of LIKE the discussions we have in class, i LIKE the way the professors logic is rubbing off on me, and i LIKE that i learn a little more about the basics of art and life as days of our classes pass by (when i even have the determination to arrive in class ON TIME, or even have the guts to go in even when I'm late and missed the first thirty minutes of the one-hour long subject).

sometimes, i even amaze myself at how insensitive i am to the "your late" stares of some people in class. awesumm.

going back . . .

our professor really has this way of speaking that enthralls or hypnotizes even those who have the attention span of a goldfish (which, FYI, is NOT tat long: 4-7 seconds. wow.) . . . .

His words even move me to think that i myself am capable to think articulately and intellectually or even sensibly as he does. It amazes me how much his mouth cooperates with his brain so skillfully. I so wish i could do what he does: turn brilliant and astute ideas and opinions into a sharp, witty, penetrating, and eloquent manner. He so passionately talks about art that the way his thoughts flow freely through his words take me to where his own thoughts lie: may it be the Renaissance or yesterday, or may it be in Germany or the Philippines, his words give it all out.

It's like he himself is engrossed i his own memories, or wherever nostalgia takes him, that he sidetracks himself most often from what really should be our topic (like today: the medium of art). He doesn't go far off track though, he still finds the right words to relate everything to what really should be our topic.

After listening to him discuss about Michelangelo's La Pieta, the only work that he signed his name on; the story of Michelangelo's resentment in painting the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel; and his preference of Michelangelo over Leonardo DaVinci, I was moved to think that I myself am capable once more to become an artisan in my own right.

With all that said, our Humanities professor really never ceases to amaze me with his mood swings, eloquence, and unique choice of words.

You GO, Sir!

*applauds*
